Party Post of Many Pictures, Holiday Workshop
Wreath (one of two for auction) by Jeanne Hamilton
An extremely well attended Holiday party at your newsletter editor’s house offered ample opportunity to take photos of club members enjoying the day. If you have some lurking on your phone to add, please send them along. Meanwhile, if I have misspelled or mis-assigned a name in what follows, please let me know and I will correct it quickly.
I am grateful to the terrific organization of this club and the many years’ experience of making this annual event happen seamlessly. First of all, many thanks to the hostesses who offered up warm quiches, salads, delicious desserts, and left behind a spotless kitchen.

And to Ellen Whitney who provided our spectacular floral centerpiece for the buffet.
Celebratory red anemones, mums, Queen Anne’s Lace, eucalyptus, winterberry, lisianthus, cranberries, and seasonal greens by Ellen Whitney
More thanks to Jeanne Hamilton who helped decorate staircases, doorway urns, windowsills, and tabletops the day before, and even had Lemon Cyprus trees in cranberry cubes repurposed from the Museum gala to round out the festive touches in every room.
And thank you to everyone who braved the torrent and honored my request for carried party shoes.
First order of business was to approve the board’s recommended grants for the year, which was followed quickly by a very entertaining auction of wreaths and decorations created by Jeanne Hamilton and Ellen Matheson. Charity Tremblay and Hilary Robinson were a dynamic comedy duo, teasing and urging ever higher bids all in good service to our grants program.

Hilary Robinson handed out party favors as people began to leave: scores of gingerbread men!
Meanwhile, down the hall, raincoat Sherpa and all around good sport – Walter – played Beatles, Frank, and Elgar as coats were retrieved. He was chuffed to share his giant speaker system with everyone.
The rain seemed to pause for the general retreat. The plates and all were packed up and driven back to the rental company, umbrellas all found their owners, colorful flats swapped for cozy boots, and then suddenly . . . everyone was gone.
Wreath by Ellen Matheson won by Bean Nardi, perfectly placed.
Holiday Workshop
Anne Umphrey and Katie Wilson write: The holiday workshop was a smash! Our 29 attendees made beautiful arrangements. Jenny Sage Borden and Rod Reidel were very helpful managing the sign up and the bank. Joan Campbell cheerfully helped with set-up. We built two additional arrangements to bring to the luncheon and delivered another to Anne Hrabchak! Anne and Katie.
