Join us for an adventure-filled day for gardeners of all ages in the extraordinary Gardens at Clock Barn, home of Maureen and Mike Ruettgers in Carlisle, MA. From a stylish design full of choice plants, to an inviting and inventive children’s garden with myriad hands-on activities, there are delights to discover for everyone.
That afternoon, Open Days and the Ruettgers will welcome special guest, innovative urban farmer and educator, Annie Novak. In addition to creating Growing Chefs, her field-to-fork education nonprofit, and managing the Edible Academy at the New York Botanical Garden, Annie Novak co-founded Eagle Street Rooftop Farm—the nation’s first commercial organic green roof farm—in Brooklyn, NY. In this informal Digging Deeper event, Annie will be available throughout the afternoon to answer questions and talk about her recent book, The Rooftop Growing Guide: How to Transform Your Roof into a Vegetable Garden or Farm. With help from some Open Days friends, she will also be offering family activities celebrating our favorite fall pollinator—the monarch butterfly!
Admission is $7 per person, while children 12 and under are free. There will be no additional charge, but those who wish to participate in the programs with Annie Novak are asked to register in advance by calling the Open Days office at 845-424-6502 or emailing opendays@gardenconservancy.org. There will be limited registration at the door.
