Just For Fun

Hang in there, it’s only 20 more days to Spring! I thought I’d send along a few distractions and interesting happenings, in case you’re starved for a little respite these dark days.

From Kate Wharton, Les jardins du Château de Poncé (a tour of the gardens of the Château de Poncé) (link goes to Youtube).

In case you missed this article from last September in the NYTimes about the reporter’s educational gardening week at Great Dixter House, Christopher Lloyd’s own garden in East Sussex, UK. Just clicking around that website makes my luggage itchy!

Remembrance of GREAT garden catalogs past: How about the video gallery from the Pacific Northwest’s once-famous nursery-now-restored-horticultural-center that is Heronswood? Start at the bottom of the page with founder, Dan Hinkley and work your way through if you like.

And how about a whirlwind visit to the ten most beautiful public gardens in Africa? I’ll leave you to the descriptions, and your bucket list, but for starters, here’s a photo of the famous Victoria Amazonica water lilies at Sir Seewoosagur Botanic Garden in Mauritius.

Closer to home, if you’re impatient for the MFA’s Art in Bloom, Worcester Art Museum is having Flora in Winter this Thursday to Sunday, March 3-6, 2022.

Flower Magazine sends out a fun and not-too-frequent newsletter. Recently it included this little tutorial about what is possible if the only flowers you have came from the (incredibly well supplied) grocery store.
