Garden Club Slate of Nominees for 2021-2023 Ballot

Email ballot for incoming officers for 2021-2023

The Board of Directors unanimously approved the following members as nominees for the Executive Board:

Julia Farwell-Clay, President

A member since 2018, Julia has been involved with several of our committees and last winter chaired the club’s participation in Family Trees at the museum. Before moving to Concord she was an active member of the Newburyport Garden Club and their Horticultural Society. She restored the garden at her 1770’s Georgian house there and it was featured in books and magazines. Shortly after arriving here, her garden was on the Concord Museum garden tour. She is in the process of restoring and enlarging this beautiful garden as well. Julia has been an English professor, is a nationally known knitter, and has written and held seminars on several subjects. Fond of public speaking and writing, well-versed in all things botanical, she is happy and eager to be our next President.

Lauren Huyett, Vice President

Lauren Huyett has graciously agreed to be our Vice President. She has been an integral and valued member of our club since 2007 and has chaired both the Hospitality Committee and the Membership Committee, as well as hosted numerous new member teas and tours. She is a busy interior designer, flower arranger, is very active with the Concord Museum, and is a former Trustee of the Heritage Plantation and Gardens. Her involvement with so many aspects of the club will contribute greatly to the Executive Committee. We are fortunate to have her serve as our next VP.

Sally Savelle, Corresponding Secretary

Sally Savelle is delighted to be our next Corresponding Secretary. She has experience and traits that should certainly come in handy. Sally has a graduate degree in non-profit administration, is a Corporator and President of the Auxiliary at Emerson Hospital, as well as VP of Publications. She is President of the board of Household Goods, and most importantly, she has been very involved in the American Begonia Society, as a former President, and is still very involved in their management. She is happy to have some of that experience now put to use on a more local level as she is devoted to this club.

Thank you to Kate Wharton, Nominating Committee Chair, and her committee: Lauren Huyett, Maryann Street, Heather Swartwood, and Cris Van Dyke.
