Congratulations!
A toast to all of you for making our virtual, members-only plant sale a wonderful success!
Although our final numbers are not in, it appears that we raised nearly $2,000 on Saturday at our curbside plant sale!
This amount will allow us to fully fund our grants and a scholarship at the same level as last year. The Garden Club of Concord can be very proud of the fact that we will be able to continue our outreach commitment to the community in 2021.
All of this happened in a very short amount of time from conception to execution. Here is a roll call of thanks to:
Georgine Feldt and Ellen Matheson for suggesting a members’ plant sale and finding a way to organize it to minimize social contact.
John Althouse and Ellen Matheson for offering not only their homes as pick up locations for plants, but also for donating a wonderful collection of unusual perennials and annuals for sale.
Rachel Kramer and Maryann Street for their expertise with a more complicated than usual Sign Up Genius. They each did the SUGs very quickly and expertly. Thanks to John, too, for speedily creating a sign up genius for his own plants.
A fantastic variety of perennials, annuals, and shrubs were provided by the following:
John Althouse, Georgine Feldt, Dennis Fiori, Joan Freeman Carolyn Gouchoe, Pam Hixon, Ellen Matheson, Amal Moamar, Pam Nelson, Sally Savelle, Cris Van Dyke Marty Wallace, Kate Wharton, and Amanda von Wiese.
Several members chose not only to purchase plants, but also to donate additional funds to the effort.
I also wish to thank Belinda Gingrich of the Lincoln Garden Club for so generously sharing how their club set up a virtual plant sale.
My gratitude to all who made this event not only possible, but successful, is boundless. It was gratifying not only for the funds we raised, but for the community spirit we were able to revive in these challenging days!
