Bloom Weekend in Belmont-“Books in Bloom”
Bloom Weekend 2018
It has been 150 years since the Town of Belmont decided to open its first Public Library. This anniversary, achieved through the devoted work of all the Library staff throughout these many years, deserves its moment of celebration. Spring will bloom early in Belmont this year: our sesquicentennial celebration begins with “Books In Bloom”, an exhibit of floral interpretations of popular books, to be held the weekend of
March 2nd – 4th at the Library. The weekend is packed with exciting events for the whole family. The Belmont Public Library is proud to partner with the Belmont Garden Club, Belmont Library Foundation, The Belmont Historical Society, and The Friends of The Belmont Public Library in sponsoring this respite from winter.
More than twenty floral arrangements interpreting popular books will be on display at the Belmont Public Library throughout the weekend starting Friday evening, March 2nd. Talented members of the Belmont Garden Club will lend their expertise and creativity to Belmont’s third “Books In Bloom”. Books of all varieties will serve as subjects, from the genres of classic fiction, popular fiction, non-fiction and children, each work chosen by the floral designer specifically for this display. The fabulous Junior Gardeners will also be participating with their own creations.
Join us at Friday night’s “First Look”, the opening party on March 2nd from 7-9 PM at the Library, where the floral designers reveal their creations. Be the first to see these original floral interpretation of books at their freshest, displayed throughout the building. Enjoy wine, beer and light refreshments, meet friends and listen to music as you stroll through the exhibits. Tickets are $20 in advance, $25 at the door, available now at the Belmont Public Library, Belmont Books (in Belmont Center), The Beech Street Center, and online through Eventbrite. Garden Club Members can purchase tickets directly from Dot and Ellen. They will be selling tickets at the February 14th meeting or contact either Dot or Ellen to arrange a convenient pick-up. Acceptable forms of payment are cash or check made payable to the Belmont Library Foundation.
