Art in Bloom at Concord Art

I hope many of you had an opportunity to view the creative handiwork of seven club members on display recently at Concord Art as part of their new exhibit: “Members Juried 1: Painting and Sculpture.”

If not, you are able to do so by viewing the presentations below by Kate Chartener, Sarah Garland-Hoch, Mary Ann Ferrell & Jane Rupley, Melinda Shumway & Elise Woodward.

The varied art that inspired them and the resulting displays are a tribute to both the talent of the artists and the creativity of the designers.

I hope you will be inspired to visit Concord Art to view the original works chosen by our arrangers as well as other works on display. “Members Juried 1” is on view through February 14th. Visit http://concordart.org

Enjoy!

Sarah Garland-Hoch’s arrangement for “March 2020” by Janet Schwartz

I chose this pastel entitled “March 2020” by Janet Schwartz.
Peaceful protesters on a beautiful day with the Capitol building in the background seemed an appropriate choice. After making my arrangement I read that Janet Schwartz is particularly drawn to the chaos and unexpected beauty of urban landscapes and traffic.
I used blue delphinium and thistle for the sky, white  hydrangeas and carnations for the Capitol Dome and one white rose for the Statue of Freedom (the statue on top of dome). Salmon carnations and salmon roses for the signs. Red roses and yellow marguerite (ish) flowers for the two marchers in the foreground. And finally I chose a container to resemble the street.
It was a pleasure to be surrounded this week by beautiful flowers!
