Information for Mentors

It is the responsibility of the members of the Garden Club of Concord to propose for membership those who will actively support the purpose of the Club.
(see article III E).

Requirements of a Mentor are:

  1. Be a member of the Club for two years.
  2. May NOT be a current Executive Board member.
  3. May mentor one candidate at a time.
  4. Know the candidate well.
  5. Be sure the candidate is well informed about the Club’s requirements and expectations for membership:
    1. active members must pay dues
    2. active members must attend 4 meetings per year
    3. active members must participate in at least one Club activity
    4. active members must serve as a host at one meeting and participate in the Plant Sale
  1. Contact the Membership chair to arrange an informal meeting with the candidate and members of the Membership committee to review Garden Club opportunities for prospective members.
  2. Take the candidate to at least one Club meeting and introduce the candidate to as many Board members as possible.
  3. Write a letter to the Membership Chair including the following information:
    1. candidate’s full name, address, telephone number and email address.
    2. candidate’s interest in gardens and related activities
    3. candidate’s reasons for wanting to join Club
    4. candidate’s other interests and activities
    5. Mail or deliver the candidate’s application and letter, and your letter, to the Membership Chair.
