Okay, now that that has been said, here’s the fun stuff.

Our June Luncheon is Tuesday starting at 11 am at the Concord Country Club, 246 Old Road to 9 Acre Corner, and I do hope you’re able to join us. 56 members have neglected to RSVP at all so I hope you will take this opportunity to check your sign up status here. And remember, you can bring your membership dues to the meeting and can check that off your To Do List!

June marks the end of our official club year, and it gives us an opportunity to thank members who served through some especially challenging years. On Tuesday, we will thank Sandy Conrad as she steps off the Board. I know I thanked Sandy back in September, but she has continued on the Board for the year to advise us all and ensure a smooth transition with her knowledge and leadership. We will also thank Pam Nelson who has served four years as Horticulture Chair, Georgine Feldt who concludes her term as Recording Secretary, and Kate Sluder who will depart as Treasurer. For the record, we should all know and appreciate how Sandra, Pam, Georgine, and Katie have each worked at the highest level and in excess of their prescribed roles for the club. We owe them our gratitude for what at times is invisible but invaluable work that any of us who have served on the Board here or in other organizations can appreciate for its seamlessness. Thank you ladies for your time, energy, and ideas, and most especially for your good sportsmanship.

As one door closes, so another one opens. We will also welcome new officers to fill these roles: Jeanne Hamilton will take on the responsibly of Recording Secretary, while Rod Riedel has agreed to serve as Treasurer and Kate Wharton will return to the Board as Horticulture Chair. Meanwhile, Sarah MacEchern & Leann Greisinger will give us a final report on the Plant Sale’s success, and Kelly Bothe & Dennis Fiori as Programming coChairs will give us a preview of next year’s lively educational schedule. I know we are all looking forward to that!

Also at our luncheon, we will welcome a brand new member, Elisabeth Kundert, sponsored by Nicole Kelly. More information about her will be shared after the meeting!

Summer Plans

As we all disperse over the horizon, please keep in mind a few things.

  • Show up for your week to maintain our Town Gardens: find a substitute or trade places should your plans change. Here’s the Sign Up Calendar.
  • Fill Out the Sign Up for the coming year as soon as it shows up!
  • Visit the Arnold Arboretum if you have an afternoon free.
  • Watch your garden closely for good candidates for Plant Sale division in the Fall! (It’s never NOT Plant Sale Season, friends).
  • Pencil in these possible Cocktail Party dates: September 20th & 21st. One or the other date may work out, and you’ll know as soon as I do. Let me know if you’d like to host!
  • Send me your annotated garden tourist photos over the summer. I’ll share in a couple of over-the-break newsletters.
  • Visit our tent at Ag Day September 10th.
  • Plant Natives! Here’s Pollinator Pathways resources and localized plant lists.
  • Be Safe! Be Well! See you around town, and certainly in September!
