Virginia Thurston Healing Garden Field Trip!

Concord is less than 30 minutes away from the Virginia Thurston Healing Garden in Harvard. If you, like many of us, have been intending to visit this meaningful and beautiful place, here is the perfect opportunity. While this is described as a “healing environment for those experiencing cancer” it provides an oasis of tranquility and beauty for all.

On Wednesday, October 2, the Garden Club will sponsor a field trip to the Healing Garden and we invite you to participate.

We will meet at the Healing Garden promptly at 10 AM on that date. The morning will include a talk and guided tour led by Kerry Lewis, well known horticultural therapist, who will explain the goals of the Healing Garden and share with us the ongoing landscape additions. One of the Healing Garden’s clients who has found comfort it its offerings will give us further insight into this unique place. Then, we will enjoy a guided walk through the property which features outstanding native plants as well as lovely Asian plants. A special time to enjoy early fall foliage!

Following the tour, participants will enjoy an indoor picnic lunch.  Inclusive cost for the morning (tour, talks and lunch) is $22. If you have never visited this nearby treasure we invite you to take part in what promises to be a meaningful experience.

Send your check, made out to Garden Club of Concord, to Dorrie Kehoe, 51 MacArthur Road, Concord, 01742. For more information call 978-369-3341 or email dorriekehoe@comcast.net. Reservations need to be made by September 22 in order for the correct number of lunches to be ordered. On receipt of your reservation and check, we will send you driving directions. Carpools are encouraged.

Look forward to seeing you on the 2nd.button.environment-over
